Year of the Ox… Prosperity Through Perseverance

Published by onceandfuturefarmer at 11:26 pm under Making Money At Home Edit This

Year of the Ox     The Lunar new year has turned, and we are now in the Year of the Ox.  The by-line for this year is “prosperity through perseverance” and it looks to already be shaping up exactly along those lines.

With tens of thousands of job cuts on the horizons both before and behind us, the prospect of working from home for oneself is not only appealing, it may well become a necessity.  In point of fact, it’s not just the US that is watching the ranks of the unemployed swell; Europe is experiencing a wave of lay offs too. Do understand that it’s only been in perhaps the last century that the concept of having a “job” has become the pinnacle of achievement.  Starting one’s own business was always the norm before.

Now would be an excellent time to assess your skills and interests with an eye towards building a home business.  Look at what you do now in the time you spend punching a clock for someone else; is there some aspect of it that would transfer to a home business?  What are your hobbies?  Could you create sufficient product to sell?  Remember that prices for non-essentials are liable to take a huge hit in the next few months.  Perhaps you have a skill that you could offer on a consulting basis.  There are a lot of possibilities out there!

Take a few hours and make a list of any possibilities you can come up with.  No holds barred; if you’ve always dreamed of being a hot air balloon pilot, put it down.  Then take a look at a good business plan and see what things on your list could be made workable.  At least toy with this, get the concept cooking in your brain; it will make it much easier to segue into if and when it becomes necessary to take different steps to keep food on the table and a roof over your head.
